Disclosure Information

Watch this page for more information on disclosure coming soon!

One of the lasting and fundamental tenets of the American Gem Trade Association is the commitment to ethical business practices within the industry.  AGTA Members have an unwavering adherence to this responsibility.  Each of our members annually commits themselves to this by signing the Code of Ethics and Fair Business Practices.

In a continuing effort to actively maintain and improve our professional and ethical position, the AGTA Board of Directors has mandated that all AGTA Firm Members actively demonstrate how enhancements and treatments are being disclosed.  A sample copy of one of commercial documents (i.e., memos and/or invoices demonstrating disclosure) is needed by January 7th, 2011.

The AGTA Office will thoroughly review these documents and contacting our Members who need assistance in bringing their documents into compliance.  The AGTA will be closely monitoring exhibiting Member’s documents at our trade shows in order to ensure our Members and our clients that our commitment to full disclosure is both genuine and ongoing.

Some Members may not yet have all of the appropriate disclosure information printed on memos and invoices.  To assist you in achieving full and complete treatment disclosure please see below.  At the AGTA GemFair™ Tucson, we will also introduce a ten minute on-line training module to help you with understanding the specific protocols for compliance.

For AGTA Retail Members, a copy of our consumer-friendly disclosure brochure Gemstone Enhancements, What You Should Know can be accessed below.  By providing this brochure at each point of sale you can be sure that your customer has a clear understanding of the typical enhancements used in the most common gemstones.  These brochures are available at 800-972-1162 or can be ordered online.
