NRC Official to Host Seminar at AGTA GemFair:
"What You Need to Know About Irradiated Gemstones from the NRC"

Dallas, TX – January 28, 2008 – AGTA and JVC are joining to present an important seminar on Friday, February 8 at 8:30 a.m. at AGTA GemFair in Tucson, Arizona. Entitled "What You Need to Know About Irradiated Gemstones From the NRC," this seminar will review the rules for distributing irradiated gemstones in the U.S. NRC official Joseph E. DeCicco, Senior Health Physicist, Division of Materials Safety and State Agreements, Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management will review regulatory requirements for trading in irradiated gemstones and will answer your questions. Also participating in the discussion will be Douglas K. Hucker, CEO of the American Gem Trade Association and Cecilia Gardner, President and CEO of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.

In conjunction with the seminar, AGTA and JVC will publish "The Essential Guide to the Trade in Irradiated Gemstones." This brochure will explain all NRC rules and the industry's compliance obligations and will guide retailers to develop their own policies regarding trade in these gemstones.

The seminar will take place in the Leo Rich Theatre at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008. Light refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
